REFUGEES IN THAILAND IN FULL ALERT.
Thailand’s Immigration Police has stepped up the raids of apartment buildings to try to find Illegal Immigrants and Refugees. Usually the worst time is September to end of December. In Thailand all Refugees are considered to be illegals. No matter the reasons that brought them there. There are times, when all is calm and then all of a sudden, the Immigration Police goes on Rampage against the illegals -including Refugees. It seems they really want to tighten the snooze around all Refugees. It is easy to identify Refugees because often their skin color is darker than Thai peoples and their facial features are different. It is hard to hide, as our families must go out eventually and buy food etc. So, even if a person wants to hide – it is not always possible.
Many Refugees have volunteer positions with International agencies which gives them the opportunity to learn English and also get out daily so they can live a more normal life. Volunteer positions don’t give them money but it gives them other benefits, such as making friends, or their children getting education or simply being part of regular life.
One of our Families was able to escape – and hide from the Immigration Police. Imagine a mother with little kids trying to escape Immigration Police and the fact is, they have never committed a crime. They were simply seeking safety in Thailand and hoped to be Sponsored to a third country. Reality is …they are not safe since Thailand offers no protection or safety or human rights to any Refugee.
We need to pray for all the Christian Families in Thailand. All the families we sponsor are safe, at this time. But reality is that they live under constant fear .One of our Families called us in Canada to share the news. The mother of two little kids was absolutely hysterical and could not stop crying. She went at it for a very long time. In Thailand both Mothers and Children go to Jail and it is very hard to get out of there. Their fears are very valid and they have heard enough horror stories of Jail experiences. So, they really do not want to go there. Nobody does.
Hearts and Hands for Refugees Canada -founder made a video call to Thailand later on to make sure the family was calm. They spoke to each other and prayed together for a long time. This whole thing just pushed the mother right to her limits and she kept crying and crying. Let’s pray for this mother ,father and their two sons. It is such a difficult life and so stressful for the whole family.
They need the Shalom of God –the Peace that passes all understanding. Peace that comes from the Heart of God and invades their hearts. We need to pray for this young family – Peace and More Peace. Let’s Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Thailand – they need our Prayers .
