Best Christmas Gift ; Sponsor a Refugee Family
Our Families have been stuck in Thailand for more than 10 years. That is a long time to wait and hope and live under Stress. Ten years is not ten weeks. It is Ten very long years. We need people to understand that. Their life is not a walk in the park and it is not a Holiday. It is simply a very hard life. These people cannot go anywhere without Church Sponsorships. Without Private Sponsorships. Without Prayers. Without Donations. Without all of us working together.
People can donate for two purposes:
- To Sponsor Families in Thailand while they wait for resettlement to a third country.
- To donate money towards Resettlement in Canada.
Resettlement process means taking many steps. It means we need many hearts and hands to work together.
- A family of 5 people need $ 50.000 Canadian dollars -to be accepted by Canadian Government. That money simply pays their first year in Canada. It covers their Rent cost, Groceries and Clothes for one year.
- We as an Organization do not touch one penny of that money. It goes to SAH Organization that works under CRA supervision and produces receipts for Government that Rent has been paid and Groceries provided for the first year. Canada does not want Refugees living as homeless people on the streets in Canada. Sponsoring people means taking responsibility for the first year.
- It is against the law in Canada to accept any money from Refugees for any services provided to them. If anyone asks money from a Refugee for helping them with their application forms in Thailand or Canada -they are breaking the law and taking advantage of their Situation. Refugees are not to pay for any services. Anyone promising Refugees will get to Canada faster if they pay money to them are breaking the law, as well.
- Sponsoring Organizations do not get any money-for their services. Money raised goes to the Refugees, so they are provided for the first year. To help them get established. Government is not paying them. It is private sponsors who pay for the first year. It is for that we are raising Funds. We raise funds so they can have safety and stability in Canada.
Our Job at Hearts and Hands for Refugees Canada is to continue to do what we are doing with our families right now
- We are personally involved. Whether our families are in Thailand or Canada.
- We use Phone, texting and Email to make sure our families are coping as they are working through the situations they face daily.
When our Families come to Canada – our work takes a different direction
- They need help to get Canadian ID’s. They need to apply for all the basic documents for daily living in Canada.
- They need to have a affordable and safe places to live in. They need furniture and dishes and various household items.
- They need jobs. They need to find schools for the children. They need to know where to buy groceries for their families.
- They need job training and various courses so they can find good jobs.
- They need weekly contact with us and with each other.
These people are not going anywhere. Right now, they are in Thailand. Praying. Waiting and Hoping for a better future. Freedom has a Price Tag. Freedom costs something. We are Raising Funds for their Freedom.
