REFUGEE GIRLS SOLD AND FORCED TO MARRY AT EARLY AGE TO SAVE THEIR FAMILIES
Whether Refugee families live in cities or in Camps and yes ,they all struggle to Survive.
Desperation and not being able to work creates very little options for Refugees and many parents make a choice to sell their daughters for the best offer. Their daughters accept parents’ decision as they realize the dept of despair the family lives in. Sometimes even Christian families are doing this because they are Hungry and desperate. Often older men come and offer to buy their daughters. Many families see this as financial solution to their problems for at least for one year. If a man pays $ 3000 for the daughter -it can help the rest of the family survive for one year.
This is a huge Human Tragedy and it should not happen, at all !!
Many of these daughters are 13-17 years old. Often the men are 40-70 years old. Most of these marriages don’t last long. The men get tired of the girls and send them back after one week or after few months. As a Survival Strategy it seems reasonable to the Parents to sell their daughters. But at what a cost to the Daughters. They lose their childhood and lose their families with no guarantee of a better life. Most end up living in Poverty. Sometimes these marriages work. They might marry a decent human being and create a stable family. It seems to be exception though. Often these young daughters end up being abused and mistreated all their lives and living in poverty just like before.

THAT IS ONE GOOD REASON TO SUPPORT REFUGEES.
