Pain Gives a Different Perspective
People assume they understand other peoples suffering but reality is that if people have lived under extreme stress and experienced it, they have a totally different perspective for that situation than others.
If we talk about Refugee Issues it is important to let them tell their stories from their perspective So, they can tell how it affected them as a family. How it affected them as a couple and how the children were affected by it. Then we can get a little glimpse as to how they processed the whole situation and how deep an impact it had on them.
In Clinical studies the Professionals often say : “ People are very resilient. It is amazing what people can survive and still be able to live normal life when it is all over “ We all have read stories of what people have experienced during a war or during upheavals in their specific countries. And yes, it is amazing how some people come out of their Suffering and are still having their sanity intact.
These people are the walking miracles. They are a real proof of God’s Mercy in their lives .Trauma in extreme situations leave a mark on people and for some people recovering from Trauma can take a long time. Some never recover.
A big issue with Trauma and Suffering is that we all have different way of dealing with suffering. Some talk and others cry. Some shut others out. Others get stuck on it
There are some who become bitter and angry and so hard to be with, that most humans start avoiding them. For some people their whole focus in life is “what happened to them “ They never let go of the past .
Reality is that we only have this moment. We cannot live in the past. We cannot live in the future. We must always remember that. We only have this moment. We have today. We are not living in tomorrow as yet.
We can only live in this moment and at this moment we can choose what kind of attitudes and mindset we wish to have
Our attitude determines our future. We can practice seeing something good in our situation and trust the Lord while we are in the middle of crises. What else can we do ?
The ones who get stuck in the past have often chosen that mindset. Often they can even remember the moment when they made that decision. ” I will never forgive that person “
As a result they start living in a “ fighting/ angry mode “ it becomes their platform and way to express anger continually and it never gets resolved.
Anger is not a good mentor. That mentor ruins many lives .It is important we realize we have a power of a choice. We do not have to look far to see that many people are held captive to their past because they refuse to let go of We all have experienced suffering. Some more than others and some to the very extreme. Yet ,if we love life ,we value life . If we Love the Lord, He himself helps us process Trauma and come to the other side.
We have a power of choice to Trust God and give all our suffering to Him. Or we can hang onto it and let it destroy us. Everyone has a power of choice
God has called us to follow Him and give Him our Burdens and ask for Help when it is too much for us to handle. It is Ok to say ” This is way too hard. I cannot carry this burden anymore ” It is Ok to admit our feelings and ask for prayer. It is Ok to talk to someone and say ” I am so tired of this situation ” We are human and humans get tired and weary.
Hebr. 4: 16 Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need
IN TIME OF NEED – COME TO THE MERCY SEAT
IN TIME OF NEED – RUN TO THE ONE- WHO CAN HEAL YOUR HEART
IN TIME OF NEED – WALK CLOSE TO GOD
HE CAN WIPE AWAY THE TEARS AND RENEW YOUR STRENGHT
THERE IS A MERCY SEAT. IT IS FOR YOU
RUN TO THE MERCY SEAT IN YOUR TIME OF NEED
Mercy Seat (lyrics) – Vicki Yohe
