Heroes of Faith in the Bible and in our Modern Era
Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
All over the world, there are people who love God and Serve Him with all their hearts. Who hold onto Faith in Jesus. Many of them do not have easy lives and they struggle in various ways but their hearts cling to the Love of God and the Promises of God’s Word. We know people who serve Refugees and trust God for safety and wisdom as they serve them.
In many countries Refugees are treated like criminals and rejected and left out of normal life. They are the modern-day outcast. But even then, our God has faithful people, who serve Refugees without recognition or big meetings and fancy music and steady pay cheque. They simply serve because they understand God’s Heart is for the Outcast, The Lonely, The Rejected ones. They know that one day in Heaven they will receive their Reward but, on this earth, they simply serve God’s People.
God’s Heart is for the Outcast, the Lonely, The Rejected Ones
People talk much about Freedom. Yet, we must say Freedom is a word that most of us do not really understand or value as we should. Simply because we never lost Freedom. We always had it, and often we take it for granted. We must realize; Freedom is Fragile.
FREEDOM IS FRAGILE. WHEN FREEDOM IS GONE- PEOPLE ARE HEARTBROKEN
God gave us a Promise in Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”
People can be broken hearted for many reasons. Some are broken because of their own sins. Or they are broken because of the sins of others. There are also people who carry regret and sorrow for many things in their hearts. They need a Saviour who can set them free. They need a Savior who loves them and brings Joy to their hearts and take the heavy burdens and give them Peace.
Others are broken because they lost someone they loved. There are many ways to be broken. Refugees are heartbroken because they lost freedom. Some are broken because of many pressures and worries in their personal lives. Others are broken because they lost financial stability in their lives. In all these things, people need to be reminded there is a Savior who can heal their hearts and set them free from worry, fear and anxiety and give them Peace.
Heroes of Faith are not People -who never have problems. Who never Cry. Who never feel sad.
Heroes of Faith are not always Praising the Lord. Heroes of Faith are simply people who Serve God and trust Him no matter what. They are committed to God and His Purposes when life is good and when it is really, really bad. They draw strength from God, and they rise up and keep walking. Their life is a Testimony for the Goodness of God in their lives. Testimony how God can keep us in the midst of dark days and give us songs in the night.
I have known people who have had terrible difficulties in their life and yet they served God faithfully and steadily. They continued their Prison Ministry. They continued working in the Hospital, visiting people. They continued to bring good news to others when family members died and when everything fell apart. They continued to Love Jesus and serve others.
There are some who visit Refugees and bring Joy to them by Sharing the Word of God and praying with them. These kinds of people are my Heroes.
Often the people we meet might be real heroes in God’s Eyes…but…We just don’t know it.
They often look so ordinary and typical. They might be well educated and might not. They might talk well or not so well… and yet they have left a mark on this earth. Their life planted Blessings like flowers. All over the place.
My Friend Linda – has planted many blessings everywhere she has ever gone. She is a Hero of Faith in God’s Eyes. And then, our Refugee friends. Many of them have lived sad lives but they bring blessings to others and pray for the country that rejected them and caused them to suffer.
They Pray Blessings and they plant blessings like flowers, wherever they go.
Refugees are my Heroes of Faith. They could have become Bitter and Angry. But they did not

It is important to realize that for us being able to Bless others when we are hurting calls for Faith. When we pray blessing over the ones who persecuted us and caused suffering in our lives -it calls for faith. In the midst of difficult things, we need God to help us. We choose His Way and He heals us. God Heals the brokenhearted when we turn to Him and Choose His Way.
Freedom and true Healing comes from God. We can be Free – in any situation because God is with us. We know His Presence is real and we seek His Face. daily. God will cover us under His Wings and in that Wonderful Presence of the Living God- we feel completely Free. We feel Loved in His Presence. We feel Accepted. We are at Peace.
True Freedom is to Know Jesus………………. True Heroes of Faith belong to God
They might be broken by life but in His Presence, they are filled with Joy and Peace. Heroes of Faith are simply people who hide in the Presence of God – until the Storms are overpast.
